The wizard, watchful, waits alone within his tower of cold gray stone and ponders in his wicked way what evil deeds he’ll do this day.

What do you think the wizard is planning to do? Conjure a magic spell? Turn a frog into a flea? Fill a cauldron with bubbling brew?

You may think you know . . . but watch out. Because if the wizard is bored, he may come looking for you!

Tall and thin with wrinkled skin, the sleepless sorcerer scarcely eats. With a flick of his wand, a scooped-up bullfrog becomes a hopping flea, two mice, and a squawking cockatoo.

He reduces the bird to chalk, scrawls a secret spell, and summons a silver bell before fire flashes in the ashen air. If you hear a silver bell tinkle, keep moving.

His gaunt cheeks hollow as he smirks a fiendish smirk from his cold gray tower. Whenever an unfamiliar creature crosses your path, take heed.
Children’s Fantasy: When the wizard gestures with his ancient knack to recall the bullfrog, the frightened creature bounds about until a shout of "Begone from here" sends it vanishing in clouds of smoke.Witchy Magic: He consults a dusty text to choose which hex to conjure next, ready to pluck an unsuspecting bystander off the spot.Rhyming Text: Jack Prelutsky’s playful rhyming verses pair with Brandon Dorman’s full-color digital illustrations to bring this delightfully eerie tower to life. Also by This Author: My Parents Think I’m Sleeping, It’s Christmas and The New Kid on the Block.
